Pipeline Transportation: Pressure Surge Analysis

Pipelines rarely operate in steady state conditions but fortunately understanding their hydraulic behaviour under transient conditions is often unnecessary.

However, when pressure surges (also known as waterhammer and pressure transients) are either anticipated (at the design stage) or experienced (during operations), it is crucial to understand what is causing these events, and their frequency and magnitude. Technical Scope
BHRSolutions uses Flowmaster™, a suite of programs originally developed by BHR Group to perform pipeline systems analysis. The service is backed up, where required, by physical testing on BHRSolutions' unique range of test equipment.

Flowmaster contains an extensive library of performance curves for many of the components used in pipeline systems. Transient and steady state analysis of both compressible (gas) and incompressible (liquid) flow systems can be modelled, along with heat transfer applications and component sizing calculations.
