Service:
CFD Modelling - Design Consultancy
Problem:
To provide confidence for our Client company that the Inter-Ozone
contactor they were proposing would meet a specified requirement.
Limits for the minimum and maximum retention times had been set
by the end user, and the process had to be guaranteed.
Approach:
BHRSolutions
modelled the proposed contactor using computational fluid dynamics
(CFD). Residence time distributions were produced at operational
flowrates and compared to the process requirements.

Outcome:
As
designed, the contactor would not have met the process requirements.
Modification of the design was required. The model was used to determine
the effect of installing a perforated plate, and it showed that
this simple modification would significantly reduce the short circuiting
and satisfy the process requirement.
