Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineer
Fluid Systems Consultancy Division

BHR Group is a leading private Research and Consultancy company providing expert technical services to a wide range of industrial clients. We specialise in fluid dynamics and mechanics, materials science, tribology and fluid physical and chemical behaviour of industrial processes from the nano to macro scales. We provide our expertise through consultancy; research and testing services; physical and computational modelling; expert advice; specialist training and conferences and product development and exploitation. Our services are applied to solve problems for a wide range of industrial processes and sectors including chemicals, pharmaceutical, renewable and conventional energy sources, water and wastewater, defence and aerospace.

Our aim is to provide new innovative or optimised designs, analytical models and operating methodologies from which cost-effective and sustainable industrial processes can be developed. We work closely with our customers to understand their business needs, and develop and implement practical technical and business solutions. To do this we employ degree qualified engineering and scientific graduates who want to apply their skills to understand and solve technically complex and business critical engineering problems.

The Vacancy
We have an opening for a graduate Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineer within our Fluid Systems Group. Technically strong and commercially minded you will work on research and consultancy projects for the design, modelling and testing of materials and components.

You will be interested in the mechanics of materials and possibly looking to extend your technical expertise in fields such as tribology, lubrication, rubber/plastic materials, wear, friction and ageing and applying it to a wide range of industrial processes.

The Role
The role will involve:

  • Developing new design methods based around the prediction and improvement of mechanical and physical behaviour of materials in a wide range of applications
  • Developing models describing mechanical properties of materials and applying these to commercial code or spreadsheets
  • Applying these to a variety of fluid engineering based industrial processes
  • Performing research experiments to generate data or validate mathematical model
  • The Candidate
A graduate mechanical or aeronautical engineer strong in materials and possibly their interaction with fluids
  • Looking to develop their career around materials properties and their tribological or lubrication behaviour
  • A flair for mathematical modeling would be a distinct advantage
  • A self starter with the potential to identify cost effective solutions to our clients problems
  • A good communicator, capable of explaining complex technical issues in simple terms
  • Able to organise themselves to prioritise competing targets
  • Enthusiastic and committed, with a can-do attitude, willing to work within tight schedules on his own or as part of a team

The Package

  • A challenging and stimulating environment with leading edge technological projects.
